Carl's Beer Can Chicken

Coat a 4-pound chicken with olive oil, salt, and seasonings. Place chicken directly over a 12-oz can of beer after discarding half of the can. You can alternatively use a oven roaster pan made for this purpose (see links). Cook at 400F for an hour. Raise heat to 425F and cook an additional 10 minutes. Remove and allow to resst for 10 minutes. Remove chicken and make a pan sauce with the drippings and beer. Carve chicken and serve with pan sauce.
